The Conference
3 Days of Talks and Poster Sessions
The 5th International Conference on Relapsing Fever looks at covering all research areas connected with Relapsing Fever Research including Bacterial Pathogenesis, Host Response/Immunology, Vector Biology, Bacterial/Vector Ecology and Molecular Biology/Genomics.
The Conference will take place, in Ceske Budejovice (yes a tongue twister, so Budweis in german), on the joint campus of the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the University of South Bohemia .
We do encourage as many postdocs and graduate students to register for the Conference.

Registration(Name tags etc.) will begin at 8:15 am on the 17th at the venue and we will start at 9:00am
Registration Fees
Although applications for local funds towards the Conference have been submitted (with no guarantees), we cannot arrange our budget until we get an idea of the number of attendees for the conference. Registration fees would be primarily for coffee-breaks, lunches and a possible brewery tour/dinner and a visit of the city of Cesky Krumlov . It is expected that the Registration fee will not be over $125.

Travel
ÄŒeské BudÄ›jovice is a 2 hour drive from the capital Prague or a 3 hour drive from Vienna in Austria (closest international airports). It is also very accessible from both these cities by train or bus. From the main railway station in Prague there are trains about every 2 hours heading in the direction of ÄŒeské BudÄ›jovice .

The local bus transport is not too difficult to understand and while a 20CZK (approx. $1.00) ticket will allow you to ride for an hour and connect trips, a 75 CZK ticket (approximately $3.50) will let you use the bus transport system for the whole day . Tickets can be obtained at a vending kiosk found at most bus stops and can be paid by card or coins. Tickets are then time stamped by inserting them into machines located on the bus.

Finally the venue is a 30-35 minute walk from the city center (where most of the hotels are located) and is worth it for those who thirst for some exercise/adventure.

I am able to also book single rooms at the dormitory on campus at 450CZK/night without breakfast. It offers single rooms organised in the "cell-system" (small apartment) - In each small apartment there are 3 single rooms sharing toilets and the bathroom as well as the kitchenette.There is also the possibility for double rooms at 750CZk/night but these rooms are usually part of a larger 'apartment' with 3 single rooms and shared facilities. Wifi is available. Kitchenette has a small fridge.
